The Savage
The Savage (aka Jon Savvage) is a South African DJ and producer whose journey through electronic music stretches back to the late 1990s, with a sound rooted in Trance, Progressive Trance, Melodic Techno, Techno and Hard Dance.
Jon began his DJ career playing bars and commercial nightclubs, but it wasn't long before he discovered the underground rave scene and the music that would ultimately define his journey — Trance. During the height of South Africa's underground club and rave culture, Jon played at legendary venues including The Hideout, Stonewater, Trampps and ESP, along with numerous other clubs and massive rave events. Immersed in the energy of the underground scene, he developed a passion for driving rhythms, hypnotic melodies and the euphoric sound that became synonymous with Trance.
Over the years, Jon has developed a distinctive style built around taking the dancefloor on a journey. His sets move between melodic soundscapes, driving Trance and powerful Techno and Hard Dance, always focusing on energy, progression and the connection between DJ and crowd. More recently, Jon has returned to the events scene, hosting and promoting events under the Tranceformed and Airwave brands, continuing his commitment to supporting electronic music and bringing people together on the dancefloor.
The Savage is also the host of Underground Beatz on Studio Prime Radio broadcasting every Saturday evening from 8PM–10PM. The show explores the broader underground electronic spectrum, featuring Progressive House, Melodic Techno, Progressive Trance, Uplifting Trance, Hard Trance, Techno and Hard Dance — combining new music with the sounds and influences that have shaped his journey over more than two decades.
From the underground clubs and rave floors of the late '90s and early 2000s to today's airwaves and events, The Savage remains driven by the same passion: underground electronic music, unforgettable journeys and the energy of the dancefloor.
