Cookie Policy

This policy explains the cookies and similar technologies Studio Prime Radio uses, why, and how you can control them. It sits alongside our Privacy Policy and is written in line with POPIA and the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act (ECTA).
1. What we mean by “cookies”
A cookie is a small text file a site stores on your device. We also use related browser storage – localStorage (small settings kept on your device), a service worker cache (copies of pages and images for offline use and speed), and the browser’s push subscription store. In this policy “cookies” covers all of these.
2. Your choice
The first time you visit we show a banner with Accept all and Reject all. “Reject all” keeps only the strictly-necessary items below – the site still works, you can still log in and shop – but the listener-analytics script is not loaded. You can change your choice any time with the Cookie settings link (also in the footer), or by clearing this site’s data in your browser.
3. Strictly necessary – always on
- PHPSESSID (cookie, first-party, expires when you close the browser) – keeps you signed in and remembers your shopping cart.
- sp_cookie_consent (localStorage, first-party, persistent) – remembers the cookie choice you made so we don’t ask every visit.
- hCaptcha (third-party, Intuition Machines, Inc.) – loaded only on the Contact page to tell real people from bots when you submit the form.
- Service worker cache (Cache Storage, first-party) – stores copies of pages, styles and images so the site loads fast and works offline.
4. Functional – set by your actions
- theme (localStorage) – remembers whether you chose light or dark mode.
- location_allowed / location_preference_set (localStorage) – remember whether you allowed approximate location for the listener map. Set only if you interact with that prompt.
- studio_prime_notice_seen (localStorage) – so a one-time on-site notice doesn’t keep reappearing.
- Push subscription (browser push store + a record on our server) – created only if you switch on notifications, so alerts can be delivered by your browser’s push service (for example Google, Mozilla or Apple).
5. Analytics – only with “Accept all”
- Airtune listener tracker (studio-prime.airtune.live, our streaming provider) – a small script on the audio player that counts how many people are listening and for how long. It loads only after you click Accept all. If you reject, it is never loaded.
6. Third parties that see your IP but set no cookies here
To load fonts and a few libraries, your browser fetches files from Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com / fonts.gstatic.com) and from the jsDelivr, unpkg and Cloudflare content-delivery networks. These requests reveal your IP address to those providers but do not set cookies on this site.
7. Managing cookies in your browser
Besides our banner, every major browser lets you block or delete cookies and site data, and most honour a “Do Not Track” setting. Blocking the strictly-necessary items may stop you logging in or checking out. Guidance for the common browsers is on their own help sites (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge).
